Techsylvania delivers all the techies a unique opportunity to learn from some of the brightest minds’ do’s & don’ts. From presenting ground-breaking ideas to debating some of the most pivotal problems that arise when business meets tech, the event has a time-tested ability to represent the core of the community movement.
Reframed in 2020 into a virtual event, Techsylvania returns in 2021 again as an online experience. Addressing hot issues, facing stark challenges, and learning from the industry change-makers — all available under one virtual roof. CBC comes to spark ideas and passions among our tech community, by using their most fierce weapons: their knowledge, and expertise, in an interesting discussion with Vlad Buzoianu, the CEO of Cluj Business Campus.
The pandemic changed the way people work and collaborate. What is different now in CBC`s approach
“First, let’s speak about what hasn’t and will never change in CBC’s approach: community first. Shareholders and advisors have asked me what’s going to happen about the ‘build a community around the office’ vision I successfully implemented at CBC in the past 5 years since everyone has been working from home for a long while. I told them we are going to double down on that vision because if the office represents anything in the future of work, it was, is, and will be the place where we build our community and culture.
What has changed is the elephant in the room: the work hybrid way forward and how we adapted to it. We identified ways we can help our partners manage this change and are now implementing a phygital approach to work.” says Vlad Buzoianu, CEO at Cluj Business Campus.
For example, CBC has launched CBC Records, a studio room fitted for hybrid meetings with people on and off-site brought together with the help of design and technology.
In September they are deploying the CBC App, a more than a digital twin of the campus, their own tenant experience app that connects the CBC community — in and out of the office. This app brings people together for CBC events, gives people convenience off all services one button away, and last but not least, allows people to book their desks and meeting rooms supporting the hub and spoke office of the future. It will be something unique in the Romanian office market, an all-in-one digital CBC.
The “work-life blending” concept through CBC’s project — how it works and why they see it as the future:
CBC are the pioneers of this trend in Romania before actually finding a word for it. Behind the fancy terms lie two simple ideas:
1. The office is not a place where we do our jobs. It is an experience just like school or university is not the place where we study. It is an experience of growth in and out of the classroom.
2. Work-Life balance implies two distinct scales that should maintain a reasonable balance for a healthy life. This seems an impossible mission given the pace of our lives nowadays.
Work-life blending becomes our future of work mantra. It begins our transformation into the office 2.0. “We already created the most serviced office in Romania, a place that makes work healthy, productive and connected. Now we must become the place where people live their best lives and do their best work. Simply put, how can the office make your life better?” added Vlad.
Moreover, there are many more actions that CBC undertakes in order to make the world a better place to live. And here are some of the strongest:
We will give them time. While people complain about the commute to the office, CBC keeps being the place where you enjoy more life. Because we cover all aspects of life within 100 steps, if you add up everything you get resolved on campus and subtract the time you spend in traffic on your way to CBC, you still win a couple of hours a day which is amazing!
For example, if I go to CBC and during my time there my kid is in the afterschool doing karate lessons, a concierge washes my car, I go to the gym, have lunch with my business partner and get work done, all within 4 hours I decide to spend there, well you get it.
We will help them grow, personally and professionally.
All our community events are designed around health and growth. And health means the complete state of physical, social, and mental well-being.
Whether it is the sports, parties, or speaking events by psychology or branding gurus, CBC brings the right people together and nurtures growth in a like-minded community.
We will encourage them to live a passionate life.
Whether you are passionate about startups, sport, DJ-ing, dancing, acting, cooking, podcasting, kitesurfing, we will support everything you do that brings other people within our community together. Nothing connects us more than a common passion.
This makes CBC an effervescent environment where things happen constantly. It has attracted amazing colleagues and partners who have brought even more soul and opportunities to the place. We have Startup founders, DJs, movie producers, podcasters, street artists, baristas, karate champs, football pros, and the list goes on. We offered them a place and a community, and they have created amazing projects.
CBC covered every feature an innovative workplace could have (class A offices, bistro, gym, school, private park, rooftop terrace, and the list goes on and on) and they are ready for more:
Looking into creating a label to support production efforts from local artists, CBC recently released CBC Records, a podcasting as a service and production facility. Next, they are launching CBC Sky Garden, which is a daily drink after work and events rooftop terrace.
Another launch will be the CBC App and the final stop for 2021 is to launch the CBC Afterschool. “Besides these, I can’t say exactly what comes next on our constant improvement schedule. There is one thing I know for sure: we won’t stop,” concluded Vlad.
